Scuba Diving Safe Second Regulator

Meant to get you out of bad situations, the safe second regulator is a quintessential part of any dive kit. And, although it’s rarely used, in some ways the safe second is your most important piece of equipment.

Hopefully, you’ll never need to use it, but when and if you do, it must perform flawlessly. If you’re using an old primary, a hand-me-down or you’ve been buying a cheap second stage to use as a backup, just remember: In an emergency situation, your safe second should breathe and perform just as well as your primary. Diving yields enough unpredictable factors as it is, so why add a shoddy regulator into the mix?

The quality of your safe second should be equal to your primary. So, if cost is your foremost consideration, keep in mind that no savings is worth having your safe second perform poorly—or not at all—in a tight spot due to misuse or neglect.
